Current trends of ever-expanding technological advancements have disrupted sensory experience as a whole; we are less involved with traditional interaction in the face of the virtual encounter. The core of human connection as experienced through touch, emotions, and thought are replaced by symbols lacking the verve of life; basic modes of communication substituted by external devices. To counteract this trend, I create utilitarian work to be used in social contexts; my pieces are not fully realized until they are completed by the viewer through use: I encourage people to respond to the design, tactility, and ultimately the environment that engages all five senses while using my work, forcing the revival of true interaction.
